I am pleased to annouce that I have accepted an invitation from Ulf Rosenburg, President of the European Brass Band Association (EBBA), to become a member of the association's Music Commission.

Mr. Rosenburg's press release reads: 'EBBA's Executive Committte has appointed Paul Hindmarsh, England, as a new member of the EBBA Music Commission. Paul replaces Preben Nørgaard Christensen, Denmark, who sadly passed away following a road accident earlier this year. We are delighted that a musician of Paul's stature will be joining the Music Commission of the European Brass Band Association. As well as having a great knowledge of brass band repertoire, his work as a performer, producer, publisher and editor, makes him the right person to fill this important role.'

The European Brass Band Championshiups has long been one of the highlights of my 'banding' year, experiencing some of the finest brass band playing from Europe's expanding brass band culture and also a wealth of new writing that this event has instigated through test-piece commissions and the participating bands' own choices of contest and concert repertoire. I am looking forward to playing a full part in developing the musical aspects of 'The European' over the coming years.
